1 Sam 8:1-3
1 Samuel 8:1-3
KJV 1 And it came to pass, when Samuel was old, that he made his sons judges over Israel. 2 Now the name of his firstborn was Joel; and the name of his second, Abiah: they were judges in Beersheba. 3 And his sons walked not in his ways, but turned aside after lucre, and took bribes, and perverted judgment.
Revised English Version 1 Samuel 8:1-3
1It came to pass when Samuel was old that he made his sons judges over Israel. 2Now the name of his firstborn was Joel, and the name of his second Abijah: they were judges in Beersheba. 3His sons didn’t walk in his ways, but turned aside after lucre, and took bribes and perverted justice.
These are my thoughts, please share yours.
1 It would common for him to rise up his sons to do the job he was doing. Judge was a very important role of leadership; they interpreted the law when people went against so that punishment would be delivered.
2 So he had two sons, who he was trying to raise to serve the Lord. It is important for parents to raise up children in the Lord.
3 They loved the world even though Samuel did raised them in the Lord, they turned from Him, this does not mean he was a bad father but means his sons chose sin.
